Sculptor, Steven Dobbin has been juried into three national exhibitions. The first, The Language of Objects curated by Beverly Ress opens at Catholic University in Washington D.C. on August 31, 2010. The second exhibition, Art from Found Objects opens on September 12th at the Monmouth Museum in Lincroft, NJ. curated by Harriet Taub, Exec. Director of Materials for the Arts at the NYC dept of Cultural Affairs. The last of the three shows entitled The Ordinary Expands, will open at Goucher College on November 18th and will feature on of Steven's Reclamation pieces.
Christine Scuilli,our stunning video artist has her 69°S, a piece on Shackleton and Antartica will be presented at BAM Harvey opening Halloween 2011. Her Phantom Limb was awarded a MAP grant and be produced by Arketype during residencies at Emerson, and Groningen Holland. Then the show will tour in Holland and the United Kingdom before appearing at Dartmouth in the early fall.
Photographer, Shelton Walsmith last seen at Causey Contempory in a solo painting exhibition, Day for Night, has had his photograph - portrait of Gordon Lish selected for publication in the French Vogue this Autumn.
Michel Demanche, Norman Mooney & Melissa Murray all have work in the national juried exhibition, UNSEEN, at the ARC gallery at the Museum of Science & Industry in Tampa, FL.
Painter, Jordan Eagles has one of his energy series paintings acquired by Everson Museum in Syracus, NY. The Everson Museum, itself designed by I.M. Pei, is internationally recognized for its pioneering art video collection, its collection of American paintings from 19th century through the present and a permanent collection which encompasses 11,000 pieces . Jordan's painting joins the collection which includes artists such as Gilbert Stuart, Charles Hawthorne, John Sloan, Jackson Pollack, Adolph Gottlieb, Milton Avery, George Inness, Helen Frankenthaler, Barbara Kruger, Philip Guston and Jean Michel Basquiat to name a few. Quite an achievement for one so early in his career.
Jelly Bean by John Clement is selected as one of 6 new public artworks to go on display in Roanoke, VA . The piece will be viewable at South Crystal Avenue in Roanoke for the next 18 months.

November Charlie ( I am in distress and require immediate assistance) and To Abandon My Vessel ( Alfa Bravo) both by Magnolia Laurie are being acquired by the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City. This acquisition will mark the first collection of Magnolia's work by a Museum. Congratulations, Magnolia.
Synthesis, drawing by Kevin Bourgeois to appear in DRAW exhition in Mexico City. Kevin Bourgeois’s art will appear in the ongoing DRAW touring exhibition at the Museo de la Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City from June - July 2010. DRAW which features such artists as Alex Grey, HR Giger, Clive Barer, Richard Serra, and David Byrne was curated by Erik Foss of Fuse Gallery in New York City in conjunction with Curse Mackey. The show began touring in 2006. Mr. Bourgeois who created a new drawing, “Synthesis” specifically for the DRAW exhibition will first appear at the museum in Mexico and will continue with the tour afterwards. Kevin’s drawings were most recently seen at Causey Contemporary in Brooklyn where he will have his second solo exhibition in October 2010. For more information see the press release section below
Sonjie Feliciano Solomon has won one of the 2009/10 Urban Artist Initiative/NYC fellowships. Mrs. Solomon is a mixed media artist who creates free standing sculptures from Organza and thread as well as two dimensional wall works using monofilament and mirrored acrylic. Her most recent creations entitled “cloudscapes” appeared at ARTPRIZE in Grand Rapids Michigan where it placed in the top twenty five. The Urban Artist Initiative/NYC (UAI/NYC) is a grants program for NYC artists of all disciplines who self-define as artists of color. In the past two grant cycles, the program has given over $200,000 to over 100 talented individual artists living in New York City.
Causey Contemporary is pleased to announce that artist, Hee Sook Kim has received a Helene Wurlitzer Foundation Residency. Ms. Kim will be doing her Residency at the Foundation in Taos, New Mexico from January through March 2010. Following the residency Ms. Kim will have a solo exhibition at the Abbei Gallery in Pulheim Germany beginning in April as part of the International Festival of New Music. Following closely behind that exhibition, Ms. Kim will have a solo show at the Dam Gallery in her native country, Korea.
